I went out and bought my own copy! This movie replaced a couple of chapters in my curriculum (BSCS Science & Technology: Investigation Earth Systems)because it ties in so well with identifying patterns and using them to make predictions. After evaluating this in a problem/solution paper (integrated unit) students then moved into a lesson called “Designer’s Dilemma” which I tweaked to have them design a housing structure suited to withstand the environmental factors we may have to adapt to in the future. Students who have traditionally been weak in both science and language arts are so turned on by this project their academic skills and performance have skyrocketed!
